CYSTICERCOSIS WORKING GROUP IN EASTERN AND SOUTHERN AFRICA (CWGESA) – 7TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Veterinary, medical, agricultural and socioeconomic researchers met in Mthatha, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, in July 2011 to discuss the Roadmap for Elimination of Taenia solium cysticercosis/taeniosis (TSCT) in Eastern and Southern Africa and to evaluate progress and make recommendations on intervention research for the elimination of the disease.
The 7th General Assembly on cysticercosis/taeniosis was held at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Walter Sisulu University, Mthatha, South Africa, from 20 – 22 July 2011. The meeting was organised by the Cysticercosis Working Group in Eastern and Southern Africa (CWGESA) in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences of Walter Sisulu University. Financial support was from the DBL-Centre for Health Research and Development, University of Copenhagen, and GALVmed supported travel for some of the delegates.
